Who we are:
EBG MedAustron is a cancer treatment and research centre in Wiener Neustadt that is unique in Austria. MedAustron uses ion therapy, an innovative form of radiation therapy, in the fight against cancer.
We offer a unique working environment built around the particle accelerator used for therapy and research with protons and carbon ions. We have set ourselves the goal of prolonging the lives of cancer patients and improving their quality of life.
Our Medical Physics team is responsible for acceptance, medical commissioning and quality assurance (QA) of all medical devices related to ion beam therapy. We use state-of-the-art robotic systems and novel imaging procedures here.
As a Medical Physicist with focus on patient positioning systems (PPS) and patient position verification systems (PPVS), you play an important role in treatment for our patients. With your in‑depth expertise in patient positioning systems and in‑room imaging, you will oversee acceptance and commissioning activities, support adaptive treatment workflows with clinical guidance, and collaborate closely with PPS and PPVS providers on software improvements. This allows you to make a real difference in the lives of cancer patients.

Medical Physicist - PPS / PPVS (f/m/x)
A job where you can make a difference:
- Participation in medical operations and clinical duties like:
o Medical physicist on duty
o Treatment planning
o Quality assurance (QA)
o Clinical Dosimetry
- Responsibilities in acceptance procedures and medical commissioning activities with a strong focus on PPS and PPVS
- Development of SW tools for the analysis of QA and clinical data
- Provision of clinical expertise in patient positioning and in‑room imaging to support the treatment planning team towards adaptive workflows
- Improving the efficiency of the established QA program
- Consequently, documenting procedures and enhancements
- Close contact with the provider of the PPS and PPVS regarding SW bug reports and release management
Skills that make you our strength:
- Academic studies (Masters degree or PhD) in Medical Physics, Biomedical Engineering or similar
- Ideally 1 or more years of clinical experience in Medical Physics
- A Medical Physics certification is advantageous, but not essential
- Willingness to work in shifts
- Very good English skills and at least basic German knowledge
- Hands-on mentality, flexibility and team spirit
- Good presentation and communication skills in an interdisciplinary and intercultural environment
For legal reasons, we are obliged to point out that the minimum salary for this position is EUR 67,644.42 gross anually (on a full-time basis). Remuneration is based on a salary scale that takes into account professional experience and qualifications.
