Your responsibilities
With over a decade of growth, our institute fosters a collaborative, curiosity driven research community. As we look toward 2036, we are continuing to expand our campus and advance our long term vision. At the heart of this journey is the Faculty Recruiting & Evaluations (FR&E) team, part of Academic Affairs, the core division that organizes academic life at ISTA. The team drives professorial appointment procedures and coordinates key scientific evaluations, such as tenure evaluations and topical reviews -always with the goal of promoting excellence in both science and science administration. As part of our team, you will coordinate scientific quality assurance processes and procedures, and drive the continuous improvement of these processes to secure their effectiveness for the future. Your responsibilities will include:
- Coordinate faculty recruiting processes: Manage application workflows, support the evaluation of candidates, organize candidate visits and recruiting symposia, and liaise with evaluation committees
- Coordinate scientific evaluation procedures: Prepare reports and dossiers, and support evaluation panels before and during onsite reviews
- Develop and improve processes and policies: Contribute to the design and continuous improvement of policies, processes, and frameworks related to scientific quality assurance
- Collaborate with stakeholders: Act as a key point of contact and work closely with faculty, the Office of the President, evaluation panel members, and other internal divisions
Your profile
- PhD in the Chemistry, Physics, Earth Sciences, Astronomy, Life Sciences, or related field, and postdoctoral experience in basic scientific research are required, as this position demands a deep understanding of international academic processes and standards
- Generalist mindset and broad perspective with an integrative approach across disciplines
- Several years of experience in academic administration, research management, or a related field (please outline your experience in your cover letter)
- International experience, including an extended stay abroad, is advantageous
- Strong conceptual and process management skills for developing structures and implementing procedures
- Interest in sustaining and implementing high academic quality standards
- Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills in English; German language skills are a plus
- Proactive, structured, and solution-oriented approach, with a high ability to multitask and prioritize
