Your Role

Join Infineon's Power & Sensor Systems (PSS) division in the Ion Trap Systems (ITS) group. We leverage Infineon's world-class capabilities in microfabrication to build state-of-the-art trapped-ion quantum processors for the world's leading quantum computing companies.

Key responsibilities in your new role

  • Develop wafer bonding processes: Lead a structured experiment in collaboration with our process experts and technology developers
  • Optimize bond geometries: Develop new lithography layouts and investigate their effects on the bond quality
  • Microfabrication: Fabricate test samples in our industrial cleanroom facility in Villach
  • Verification: Electrical and mechanical characterization of the test samples
  • Deliver a strong master thesis: Link your results to existing literature, present your results in an accessible way, and formulate actionable recommendations for future fabrications

Type of employment: Temporary / Full-time (flexible working hours from Monday to Friday between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m.)
Duration: 12 months

Your Profile

Qualifications and skills to help you succeed

You successfully meet the requirements, if you are a motivated and committed student (f/m/div) from the field of physics, materials science, electrical engineering, chemistry or similar with strong academic results. You are best equipped for this task if you additionally offer:

  • Hands-on experience: Proven track record of delivering measurable results, for example from an internship
  • Organizational skills: Good time management, track record of taking responsibility
  • Knowledge and technical skills: Analytical mindset and curiosity, microfabrication knowledge or hands-on lab experience beneficial
  • Language skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, German is a plus

This position is subject to the collective agreement for workers and employees in the electrical and electronics industry (full-time), employment group B for bachelor students, employment group D for master students (https://www.feei.at/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/minimum-salaries-white-collar-workers-2025.pdf).
