Job Description
As Team Lead Mechanical Design, you will lead and coordinate internal and external design engineers, driving mechanical product development from concept through series production. You will ensure technical excellence, cross-functional alignment, and efficient execution while fostering innovation and continuous improvement within the design organization.
- Provide technical leadership for mechanical designs from concept to series production, including review and approval of drawings and specifications
- Lead and prioritize work for internal design engineers and coordinate external design partners
- Plan and execute design activities in line with project scope, timelines, and budgets
- Act as a key interface to production, procurement, suppliers, quality, integration, electronics, and service teams
- Ensure design quality, compliance with review and validation processes, and readiness for manufacturing
- Mentor and coach engineers, promote best practices, standardization, and lessons learned
- Drive innovation, adoption of new technologies, and continuous improvement in design methods
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a comparable field
- 5+ years of professional experience in mechanical design engineering, ideally within the semiconductor industry
- Strong expertise in machine design, physics, strength of materials, and high-precision mechanical systems
- Advanced proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred), including PDM systems and detailed technical documentation
- In-depth knowledge of materials selection, tolerancing, surface finishes, and international standards (ISO, ANSI, DIN)
- Experience with high-precision manufacturing processes and design verification methods (FMEA, simulations, prototyping, industrialization)
- Solid understanding of safety and regulatory requirements and multidisciplinary system design, including electrical interfaces
- Proven leadership and communication skills, with experience mentoring engineers and working in cross-functional teams
- Experience in vacuum technology, FE simulations, and complex projects under tight deadlines

With us you will receive an attractive annual gross salary from 83.000,- EUR (plus bonus, KV Metallgewerbe). Depending on your experience, this can also be higher.
