EBG MedAustron is a cancer treatment and research centre in Wiener Neustadt that is unique in Austria. MedAustron uses ion therapy, an innovative form of radiation therapy, in the fight against cancer.

We offer a unique working environment built around the particle accelerator used for therapy and research with protons and carbon ions. We have set ourselves the goal of prolonging the lives of cancer patients and improving their quality of life.

Our Medical Physics team is responsible for acceptance, medical commissioning and quality assurance (QA) of all medical devices related to ion beam therapy. We use state-of-the-art robotic systems and novel imaging procedures here.

As an Medical Physicist in Treatment Planning, you play an important role in planning treatment for our patients. Your focus here is on treatment planning using protons and carbon ions. You are also responsible for routine clinical duties such as quality assurance and dosimetry. Your responsibilities also include specification, acceptance, commissioning and QA activities for our medical software systems with a focus on Treatment Planning System (TPS). With your expertise in medical physics treatment planning, you ensure that every therapy is optimally prepared. With your deep understanding of dosimetry, radiation techniques and planning software, you make an essential contribution that makes a real difference to our patients.

Medical Physicist in Treatment Planning (f/m/x)

  • Routine clinical duties:
  • Quality assurance (dosimetric QA and in-room QA)
  • Dosimetry
  • Medical physicist at the treatment machine
  • Patient-specific QA (dosimetric and in-room equipment)
  • Special focus: Treatment planning with protons and Carbon ions
  • Specification, acceptance, commissioning and QA activities of the medical software systems with focus on the TPS:
  • Specification, acceptance and commissioning of the TPS for protons and carbon ions.
  • Establishment of treatment planning guidelines and routines for protons and carbon ions
  • Participation in administration and maintenance of TPS hardware and software including generation and validation of scripts used in combination with the TPS in patient routine for protons and carbon ions.

Skills that make you our strength:

  • Academic studies (Masters degree or PhD) in Medical Physics, Physics or similar
  • Initial clinical experience in Medical Physics is an advantage
  • A Medical Physics certification is is advantageous, but not essential
  • A strong interest in particle therapy and treatment planning and ideally experience in these areas is an advantage
  • Willingness to work in shifts
  • Very good English skills and at least basic German knowledge
  • Hands-on mentality, flexibility and team spirit
  • Good presentation and communication skills in an interdisciplinary and intercultural environment

For legal reasons, we are obliged to point out that the minimum annual gross salary for this position is EUR 66,703.90. Remuneration is based on a salary scale that takes into account professional experience and qualifications.
