About the job:
The right match for this role will be asked to support and partly lead the design, analysis, and validation of the next-generation high-pressure hydrogen compressors up to 1000 bar. The role must focus on enhancing efficiency, durability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness through the application of advanced mechanical engineering principles. You will join a small team of experts around compression technology with an appealing wide range of responsibilities and diversified tasks.
Your responsibilities will include:
- design (CAD) and develop components and systems for hydrogen diaphragm compressors, from concept to prototype to final product
- conduct finite element analysis (FEA) for mechanical integrity and fatigue life, by use of engineering standards like FKM and EN 13445
- evaluate and optimize sealing technologies and tribological interfaces for high-pressure hydrogen and hydraulic environments
- collaboration on the integration of hydraulic actuation and control sub-systems
- work closely with lab and test colleagues to plan, execute, and analyze prototype and validation tests
- document design specifications, calculation reports, and validation protocols
The position is based in Vienna, Austria with strong contact and recurring traveling to Herning, Denmark.
About you
To succeed in this role you bring a background in mechanical engineering within fluid machinery, hydrogen systems, or compressor technology. You thrive in an advanced technical environment, collaborating with colleagues across multiple locations.
Your qualifications include
- A degree in mechanical engineering (including HTL) or a related field
- Proven experience in finite element modeling and simulation (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus, or similar)
- Hands-on expertise in 3D design (3D CAD such as Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks), prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting of energized, kinematic systems
- Excellent written and spoken English, as English is the business language for this role
Industry knowledge in compression systems, hydrogen technologies, or infrastructure is considered an advantage.

Salary & Employment
This position is aiming for full-time employment on 38.5h/week basis acc. to collective agreement "Angestellte des Metallgewerbes". Final contracted salary will be based on qualification, experience and performance, but minimum salary will be acc. "Verwendungsgruppe IV" (in year 2025) of 3,341.5 EUR / month (gross salary).
