THE POSITION

We are looking for a Laboratory Scientist in our small molecule Analytics Laboratory, to support our oncology drug discovery efforts in the Department of Drug Discovery Sciences at Boehringer Ingelheim RCV & Co KG. You will join our Analytics team within the Structural Research Group, dedicated to fighting cancer by supporting our colleagues from the Medicinal Chemistry Department with a wide variety of state-of-the-art analytical methods.

Tasks & responsibilities

  • Sample preparation for a variety of analytical techniques (NMR, HPLC, ICP-MS, DSC)
  • NMR and HPLC-MS analysis of organic molecules submitted by Chemistry Department
  • Structure elucidation of side products and impurities
  • Method development for chiral compounds by HPLC and SFC methods
  • Organization of lab tasks (ordering, routine maintenance of analytical system & communication of results in Structural Research and Med Chem groups)

Requirements

  • Education in natural sciences, preferably Chemistry (BA, MA or equivalent experience)
  • Strong interest in Chemistry and laboratory experience in analyzing small molecules
  • Good knowledge of laboratory IT systems (LIMS, databases, robotics) and knowledge of NMR and HPLC-MS is a plus
  • Good communication skills in German and English (written and oral)
  • Ability to work both independently and collaborate with others

The minimum gross annual salary according to the collective bargaining agreement for this position is EUR 43,548.40 (full time), although the actual salary is based on your technical skills and personal competencies as well as your professional experience.
